The way the dryer vent is cleaned matters. There are several methods, some are good, and some are bad. It may surprise you to learn that the majority of what you see on Facebook and YouTube is not the correct method. Sure, it may seem satisfying to see the large amounts of debris violently exiting the vent stack, but what is the ultimate result? Afterall the whole point of a dryer vent cleaning is to actually clean the dryer vent, right? Did you know that dryer vent debris is made up of burnt lint and dust that can be toxic? By allowing the technician to blowout all of that debris all over your laundry room and around the home, even the roof, you are introducing that toxic material back into your homes air supply. So, while you may be able to dry your clothes faster, you are also breathing in that toxic dust, not to mention, because it's so fine in nature, it gets everywhere! So much for reducing household dust, right?
The Simple truth is that if you don't know what to look for, you may be doing more harm than good. When a technician comes out to clean your dryer vent and gets straight to work, without first performing an inspection, they could be further damaging the vent system and or some of its components. Rest assured that when we come out, our first step is an initial inspection. We get a solid understanding of your specific dryer vents condition. (learn more about our process below). Once we determine the condition of your vent and the right approach, we will begin your cleaning service. This process includes connecting our dual HEPA filtered vacuum to your wall port (inside or outside), agitate the dust and debris using our Hi-Speed rotary brushes while simultaneously collecting the dust and debris with our vacuum. The result is a hassle-free clean dryer vent with no additional messes and toxic materials to contend with. We call this the ProVent Method!

A competent Service Provider will perform an initial inspection prior to starting the cleaning service. This is an important step as it allows the technician to determine the amount of build that may be present and observe any damaged portions of the vent. If a service provider goes straight to agitating with air or brushes, they risk damaging the vent piping, termination port, or making a huge mess in or around your home. During this step we disconnect the dryer from the wall, inspect the vent, connections, and termination ports prior to starting your cleaning service. Once we have completed the cleaning, we will perform a post service inspection.
In this step we will have a brief discussion about the cleaning process and what we observed during the initial inspection. In some cases, the transition duct (Hose that connects the dryer to the wall port) will need to be replaced, while in other cases the dryer itself may need to be cleaned out. This is where lint and debris have accumulated inside of the appliance and will need additional cleaning. This is a safety item that is checked during the initial inspection. We will make any recommendations necessary and then move on to the cleaning.
Creating negative pressure is an effective way to clean your dryer vent, so you do not end up inhaling polluted indoor air. (Which is what most of the other companies do)
This is our process to clean dryer vents using negative pressure (Vacuum pressure):
The vacuum will then be turned on to start the cleaning.
We will use strong suction gear to clean the vent as we go through the vent duct cleaning steps.
Problem with settled dust?
You don’t have to worry as we are equipped with powerful Dual Filtered Vacuums, and hi-speed rotary brushes to break up clogs and stir movement of settled dust and debris for collection.
Once the brush cleaning is complete, we will test the air pressure exiting the port to ensure the cleaning has completely removed all the lint and debris.
Reassessing your dryer vent is imperative once the cleaning has been completed. We will perform a post cleaning inspection to ensure the cleaning was done successfully and air is able to vent properly through your vent termination port. Wipe Down the Appliance with a surface friendly solution and reconnect your appliance leaving your home cleaner than when we arrived. For peace of mind call or schedule your appointment today.
